Beating the Winter Blues!

I didn't realize just how ready for spring I was until out of nowhere, came the snow! Yes, it was pretty to watch, until it turned to ice! To offset this cold snap, I made a cup of tea, poured it into my Travel Tumbler and headed to the floral dept of my A&P grocery. The minute I walked into the store a beautiful display of bouquets and potted daffodils rescued my mood! I scooped up 2 pots of friendly yellow flowers and headed to the shop to work on a tea cosie display that would help us beat the winter blues!

There is nothing like the crisp freshness of a blue and white pattern! It's been around for centuries and beautiful decorating books have been devoted to it! Our Blue & White Tea Cosie Collection reflects this, and can add a traditional touch to your dining area or fit right in on your shabby chic kitchen table.

Might I suggest a nice cup of Paris Market Day tea today? Let's dream of springtime in Paris, shall we?!

 I've had so many ask , "A vision board?, What's it look like?"

Here is my first board! I made it two years ago. I can still remember how it felt to cut out all of the photos and stick them on the board! The board is nothing fancy, just a black poster or foam board. For me, it was the excitement of getting the thoughts out of my head and making them real. And you know what? Each and every photo has come true! We have a beautiful catalog, a wonderful website, a fabulous shop, a great signature product line and we have our ads in national magazines like Victoria! That is the power of a vision board, the power of attraction, the power of positive thinking-whatever you call it!

Here is my second board. I made this 3 months after the first one.  This shows what I want to achieve for my direct serving and selling division of the company. It has all come true accept winning the HGTV dream home last year. I guess the lesson there for me is that I need to make it happen myself, not take a chance on it or win it. One thing I did notice when I took this photo is that I need to replace one of the pictures on the board. I have a picture of three women who represent my consultant team. A picture of three women. Yep, that limited my thinking! I have three consultants, I need a picture of a crowd on that board!

 

My next board is going to be all the money I make from my advertising. I realized that I spend all this money on advertising and never took the time to focus my energy and attract the outcome that I want! I just left it up to chance, fate, whatever we call it! Yikes, there's no power in that!

Scone Recipe for Valentine's Day Tea

  We came  across this wonderful recipe on epicurious.com and adapted it for our Gourmet Scone mix! What a treat and so easy!

Raspberry Heart Scones

1 pkg Sweet Creme Scone Mix

                                          1 cup heavy whipping cream

                                          3 cups raspberry curd or jam (with seeds)

                                         1 cup confectioners sugar

                                         1/2 tsp milk

Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix scones as directed.. Turn dough out onto sheet of parchment paper; pat to 1/2-inch thickness. Using 3-inch heart-shaped or round cookie cutter, cut out scones. Using floured knife, start at point of each heart and cut horizontally halfway through scones; fill with 1 generous teaspoon jam (jam will show at edges). Transfer to baking sheet. Bake scones until lightly golden, about 18 minutes. Transfer to rack; cool scones until slightly warm.

Meanwhile, mix powdered sugar and milk in bowl to blend. Spread glaze over scones. Serve slightly warm or at room temperature.

Treat your Valentine to this divine indulgence and  you will reap the rewards!

 

The night before plan your offerings and make it easy and enjoyable.
Gather a nice tray or wrap a baking sheet in Valentine paper.
Check your cupboards for doilies, heart shaped or red and pink accessories and dishes.
Plan a menu that reflects the taste of your Valentine.
Will a newspaper be consumed with gusto or perhaps a good book?
And don*t forget the pretty flowers so that you can enjoy the moment too.

For breakfast might  I suggest:
   *Heart shaped waffles and sausage patties ( a cookie cutter and frozen waffles are perfect)
   *Fresh strawberries sliced thin will add a nice touch of color, Red!
   *And a pot of your favorite tea with a Tea Cosie to keep it warm while you enjoy each others company

Prepare a feast for the eyes and heart with simplicity and gratitude.
